MiP Tim Kliphuis Trio
Classically trained Dutch violinist Tim Kliphuis is widely regarded as the heir to his mentor, Stéphane Grappelli. In his trio, Tim is joined by two Scots, both supremely talented jazz musicians in their own right. In this semi-improvised programme, the trio will perform movements from their most recent works: ‘Reflecting the Seasons’ and ‘Brandenburg’. Music by Vivaldi and Bach is re-interpreted in a blend of classical, gypsy-jazz and folk, all delivered with humour and finesse, whilst remaining respectful to the originals. There will also be trusted swing tunes and maybe a preview of the Trio’s to-be-premiered ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’.
