MiP Ben Goldscheider Trio

BBC Young Musician 2016 Brass Category Winner, Ben Goldscheider, is joined in an all-star trio by New Zealand born violinist Benjamin Baker and Welsh born pianist and composer Huw Watkins. They will play two mainstays of the repertoire; Mozart’s Quintet (‘a horn concerto scored for chamber ensemble’), in an arrangement for trio, and the only chamber work Brahms wrote for horn, which shows the instrument’s full emotional range, by turns majestic, graceful, sombre and thrilling. Between them is a single-movement piece by Huw Watkins that alternates driving rhythmic passages with slower, contemplative music.
